Masters Swimming

Workington Masters swimmers competing at the National Masters Short-Course Championships in Sheffield, October 2024

Workington ASC offers a Masters squad designed for adult swimmers of all ages. We currently run three sessions each week:

  • Tuesday evening: 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm (up to three lanes available as needed)
  • Thursday evening: 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm (up to two lanes available as needed)
  • Sunday morning: 8:00 am – 10:00 am (one lane)

These sessions are self-led, following a structured session plan. Coaches are present on the poolside with the age group squads and are available to answer questions.

Our Masters squad includes former competitive age-group swimmers who often compete at regional and national levels, open-water swimmers, as well as members who swim for fitness and social interaction.

If you’re interested in joining, please contact the club via phone or email to arrange a trial during one of our regular sessions.

There are no strict eligibility criteria, but you should be able to swim independently, ideally in all four strokes (freestyle, butterfly, backstroke, and breaststroke). You should also be familiar with lane swimming etiquette and able to follow a structured session plan.
